Professional Writing & Editing
Everyone writes, but not everyone easily writes professionally.
Our support will follow one of two formats:
1. From grammar to style or design we can take the revision, editing, or proofreading off your plate which gives you more time to focus on the part you likely enjoy, the actual writing.
2. If writing isn't something you enjoy, we can help there too, by either writing for you or writing with you over time to improve your skills and confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
We love and encourage curiosity!
How soon can you meet?
We will work you into our schedule as quickly as we can. If our schedule does not match well with your availability, we will refer you to someone else.
My child hasn’t done well learning online, how is online tutoring different?
Online classrooms are not easy for many students. Online tutoring is one-on-one which means we can go as slow or as fast as a student needs, students can ask as many questions as they want, and we can pay close attention to their behavior as they work. What might be accidentally missed when you’re one of 20+ faces on screen is almost impossible to miss one-on-one. Ask us about our $20 mini-trial lesson if you want to see how online learning can be helpful before signing up.
Why do you sometimes charge more for in-person tutoring? Isn’t the instruction the same?
Yes. All of our clients receive the same level of instruction, involvement, and dedication regardless of how the meeting happens. In person clients are paying for us to spend extra time coming to their house or workplace, bringing supplies, and then traveling back home. The extra cost helps pay for that time we can’t spend preparing for a session or helping another client because we are traveling.
Does an adult need to be there during a child’s lesson?
We want everyone to be safe and feel supported because that is the best environment for learning.
We offer short meet and greets for our youngest clients prior to their first session. We prefer that all minors have a trusted adult within earshot for online lessons to help with scheduling questions, technical issues, and to be actively aware of their child’s progress. We require that a trusted adult (21 or older) is within earshot if meeting with a minor (17 or younger) at the student’s home. For sessions in public spaces, parents or adult caregivers should follow the requirements of that location. For adult students, please use your own judgment on what you need during a session.
*Please Note: We are never alone with a child. If there is an emergency and a trusted adult cannot be close by (within earshot), we will get your consent and record either the audio or visual of the lesson for your records, but our preference is that a parent or trusted adult caregiver is available to be nearby. We also consider ourselves mandatory reporters due to Carolyn’s background as a public school teacher.
How can you help me learn if you don’t understand the subject?
It’s true, we can’t tutor what we don’t know. We can, however, help you try different strategies and practice good study skills for any subject: This is the difference between academic coaching and tutoring. If you don’t have a lot of experience studying or teaching yourself, then we can help you learn how to do that, regardless of the topic.
Why isn’t pricing the same across all services?
We consider several factors: how much time we will need to spend with a student, the skills required to support that student, overhead costs, and how long they will be an active client. We have starting prices and we adjust from that point.
Also, please know that we understand money is sometimes a stressor in someone’s life. If clients are having challenges, we encourage them to talk to us because we know that circumstances change. Please don’t let the starting prices stop you from becoming an inquiring student.
How long is a session?
Most sessions are approximately one hour long. This can vary based on age, needs, availability, and frequency. As people with neurodivergent brains and bodies, we run our business on “ish” time. We’re not a 90s or early 2000s phone plan with a minutes overage charge. Your price covers the service and support rather than a minute-by-minute value.
How does payment work?
We accept cash or card. We use an online billing and scheduling system called Fons that keeps your information safe and secure. It allows us to schedule sessions, track notes about appointments, manage payments or refunds, and contact clients. We will get you set up in Fons during your first session.
Do you have any other policies we need to know?
We try to keep our policies list as short as possible because we see our clients as partners not customers!
The most important ones are our protection policy (see question above about present adults), cancellation policy, and referral policy.
- For cancellations, we understand that emergencies happen. Sessions canceled fewer than 6 hours before your appointment will be charged the full price. Frequent or recurring cancellations that become problematic will be charged the full-price — even if cancelled outside the 6-hour window — after we notify you of the problem. If flexible scheduling is something you need, ask us about our subscription offers.
- We have a policy that we will either refer clients to other teachers or help find and support other teachers if we cannot meet the needs of that inquiring student. Depending on the amount of work necessary to find an appropriate referral, payment may be required.
Important values we have, even if they aren’t policies, include our commitment to your success, putting people over profit, providing quality support, maintaining our own skills, growing as tutors, teachers, & coaches, and making our business a sustainable one that contributes to its community’s well-being.
